Full Definition
Effervescent describes wine with visible bubbles from dissolved carbon dioxide. Includes fully sparkling wines (Champagne, Cava), lightly sparkling (frizzante, petillant), and slightly bubbly wines. Effervescence can be intentional or an unintentional fault in still wine.
