Full Definition
DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata in Italy; Denominacao de Origem Controlada in Portugal) is a quality wine classification similar to French AOC. It specifies geographic origin, permitted grape varieties, yields, aging requirements, and production methods. Italy's higher DOCG adds government tasting approval.
