Density
/DEN-sih-tee/In tasting, the concentration of a wine; in viticulture, vine spacing.
Full Definition
Density has two wine meanings: in tasting, it describes wines with concentrated, compact flavors and texture. In viticulture, plant density refers to vine spacing - high-density planting (10,000+ vines/hectare in Burgundy) increases root competition, reduces vigor, and can improve quality. Low-density (1,000-2,000/hectare) is common in warm, dry regions.
