Wine from a named commune or village.
Full Definition
Village wine in Burgundy bears a village name (Gevrey-Chambertin, Meursault) without a specific vineyard. It's above regional wine but below Premier Cru and Grand Cru. Village wines can blend fruit from multiple vineyards within the commune. Some villages have better reputations than others.
