Bush Vine

/BUSH VINE/

Free-standing vine trained without trellising.

Full Definition

Bush vine (gobelet, head-trained) is a vine training system where each plant stands independently without wire support. Traditional in hot, dry regions (Southern Rhone, Mediterranean, old California), the bush shape shades fruit from intense sun. Bush vines require hand labor and are often old, low-yielding, and prized for concentrated wines.
