Sustainable viticulture balances environmental, social, and economic considerations. It may include reduced chemical use, water conservation, biodiversity, carbon footprint reduction, and worker welfare. Various certification programs exist (SIP, LIVE, Sustainable Winegrowing). Less strict than organic but allows more flexibility.
