Sangiovese is Italy's most important red grape, the backbone of Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile, and many Super Tuscans. It produces wines with high acidity, firm tannins, and cherry-tomato-herb character. Highly site-sensitive, it expresses terroir distinctively. Sangiovese Grosso (large Sangiovese) is the Brunello clone.
