Pruning

Cutting back vine wood to control growth and yield.
Full Definition
Pruning removes vine wood during dormancy to shape the plant and control yield. Winter pruning determines how many buds (future shoots and clusters) remain. Cane pruning (Guyot) retains entire canes; spur pruning (cordon) keeps short spurs. Pruning decisions affect vine balance, fruit quality, and vine longevity.
