Yield

/YEELD/

The amount of grapes produced per vineyard area.

Full Definition

Yield measures grape production per area - typically hectoliters per hectare (hl/ha) or tons per acre. Low yields (under 35 hl/ha) often produce concentrated, quality-focused wines; high yields (over 60 hl/ha) can dilute character. Yields are regulated in many appellations. Old vines naturally yield less.
