Full Definition
Powerful describes wines with great intensity, concentration, and impact. Powerful wines demand attention through deep flavors, firm structure, and often higher alcohol. Can be elegantly powerful (Barolo, Grand Cru Burgundy) or brashly powerful (young Napa Cabernet). The opposite of delicate or subtle.
