/hor-ih-ZON-tul TAYS-ting/
Comparing multiple wines from the same vintage.
Full Definition
A horizontal tasting compares wines from the same vintage but different producers or vineyards. This isolates vintage character while highlighting producer and site differences. For example, tasting six 2018 Napa Cabernets. The contrast is vertical tasting, which samples multiple vintages from one producer.
