Wine lacking substance in the mid-palate.
Full Definition
Hollow describes wines that start with promising aromas but disappear in the mid-palate, lacking core fruit and substance. The attack and finish may be present, but the middle is empty. Usually indicates dilution from high yields or poor extraction. A significant structural flaw.
