Hail is one of viticulture's most feared hazards - it can destroy a vintage in minutes, damaging leaves, shoots, and fruit. Hail netting provides protection but is expensive. Hail damage creates entry points for disease and can devastate yields. Some regions like Burgundy and Mendoza are particularly hail-prone.
