Full Definition
Herbal describes aromas of dried or fresh herbs including thyme, rosemary, sage, oregano, lavender, and mint. Common in Southern French wines, Italian varieties, and some Cabernet. Can derive from grapes, terroir (garrigue), or oak aging. Distinguished from herbaceous (greener) by suggesting dried herbs.
