A hectoliter (hl) equals 100 liters, approximately 133 standard bottles or 26.4 gallons. Used to measure wine production and yields. Yields expressed as hectoliters per hectare (hl/ha) indicate vineyard productivity. Quality appellations often limit yields to 45-55 hl/ha.
