Soft describes wines low in tannin and/or acidity, creating a gentle, approachable mouthfeel. It can be positive (easy-drinking, smooth) or negative (flabby, lacking structure). Soft wines are typically ready to drink young and pair with lighter foods. The opposite of firm, angular, or structured.
