Nebbiolo
/neb-ee-OH-loh/Noble Italian grape producing Barolo and Barbaresco.
Full Definition
Nebbiolo is the great red grape of Piedmont, Italy, producing powerful, complex wines in Barolo and Barbaresco. Named possibly for the fog (nebbia) during harvest. The wines show pale garnet color but robust tannins, with tar, roses, dried cherry, and truffle aromas. Requires significant aging. Rarely successful outside Piedmont.
