Traditional Port barrel holding about 550 liters.
Full Definition
A pipe is the traditional barrel size for Port wine, holding approximately 550 liters (534L for Port, 522L for Madeira). Port production and sales have historically been measured in pipes. The size allows extended aging. Half-pipes and quarter casks also exist.
