A classified growth estate in Bordeaux or other regions.
Full Definition
Cru classe ('classified growth') refers to estates included in official classifications. In Bordeaux, the 1855 Classification ranked Left Bank estates; separate classifications exist for Graves, Saint-Emilion, and Cru Bourgeois. The designation implies historical quality reputation but doesn't guarantee current excellence.
