Prestigious French region known for Cabernet and Merlot blends.
Full Definition
Bordeaux is France's largest fine wine region, producing red blends (primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc) and dry/sweet whites (Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon). The Left Bank emphasizes Cabernet; the Right Bank, Merlot. The 1855 Classification established its famous hierarchy. Bordeaux defined much of modern wine culture.
