Traditional wine closure made from bark of cork oak.
Full Definition
Cork closures are made from the bark of Quercus suber (cork oak), primarily from Portugal and Spain. Cork allows micro-oxygenation for aging while maintaining seal. Natural cork risks TCA contamination (cork taint). Alternatives include technical corks (agglomerated or multi-piece) with lower TCA risk.
