Full Definition

Bottle shock is a temporary condition where wine tastes flat, disjointed, or muted, typically occurring right after bottling or vigorous transport. The dissolved oxygen from bottling needs time to integrate. Wine usually recovers within days to weeks of rest. Also called 'bottle sickness.'
