Aftertaste is the flavor impression remaining after swallowing (or spitting) wine. A long, pleasant aftertaste indicates quality. The aftertaste may evolve, revealing different notes than the initial palate impression. Bitter or harsh aftertaste is considered a fault. Synonymous with finish and length.
