Full Definition
Filtration removes suspended particles, yeast, and bacteria from wine by passing it through filter media of various porosity. Methods include pad filtration, membrane filtration, and cross-flow filtration. Sterile filtration before bottling prevents refermentation. Unfiltered wines may have more texture but risk instability.
