The direction a vineyard slope faces.
Full Definition
Aspect (or exposure) refers to the compass direction a vineyard slope faces. In the Northern Hemisphere, south-facing slopes receive more sun and warmth; in the Southern Hemisphere, north-facing is warmer. Aspect affects ripening, disease pressure, and wine style. Cooler aspects may be preferred in hot climates.
