Glossary
Raw
/RAW/
Young, undeveloped wine with rough edges.
Full Definition
Raw describes young, undeveloped wines showing rough, unintegrated character. Raw tannins feel harsh; raw acidity seems sharp. Not necessarily a fault, as many fine wines are raw when young and need time to smooth out. Context and potential determine whether raw is temporary or problematic.
