Cabernet Franc is a red grape variety, one of the parents of Cabernet Sauvignon (with Sauvignon Blanc). It produces wines with red fruit, violets, and herbal/bell pepper notes. A blending component in Bordeaux, it stars solo in Loire Valley (Chinon, Bourgueil). Grows well in cooler climates than Cabernet Sauvignon.
