Brovia is a benchmark Castiglione Falletto estate producing traditionally styled Barolo from some of the Langhe's most respected crus, including Villero, Rocche di Castiglione, and Garblèt Sue'.

### History Brovia is a family estate based in Castiglione Falletto, one of the eleven communes entitled to the Barolo denomination and widely regarded as producing wines of notable structure and longevity. The domaine has been family-owned across multiple generations, with the Brovia family farming their vineyards and making wine long before Barolo attracted international attention. In more recent decades the estate has been shaped significantly by the sisters Elena and Cristina Brovia, who work alongside their father Giacinto and Cristina's husband Alex Sanchez. That combination of inherited knowledge and hands-on family management has kept the estate focused and consistent at a time when much of the Langhe was undergoing rapid commercial change. Brovia remained committed to a traditional winemaking philosophy through the so-called Barolo Wars of the 1980s and 1990s, when the region was divided between producers adopting short macerations and new French oak and those holding to extended macerations and large Slavonian casks. Their allegiance was firmly with the latter camp, and the wines have reflected that consistently.

### Vineyards Brovia's most important holdings are in Castiglione Falletto, where the estate farms parcels in Villero, Rocche di Castiglione, and Garblèt Sue', three crus with meaningfully different characters despite their geographic proximity. Villero sits at the northern end of the commune on soils of compact Helvetian marl and produces wines with notable depth and firm tannin. Rocche di Castiglione occupies a steep, amphitheater-shaped slope with excellent southern exposure, and the wines from this site tend toward aromatic precision and finesse. Garblèt Sue' is a smaller, less widely known cru but consistently yields structured, age-worthy fruit in Brovia's hands. The estate also holds the Brea Vigna Ca' Mia parcel, which sits in the Serralunga d'Alba commune and brings a more austere, mineral character associated with that zone's harder, more compact Tortonian soils. Beyond Barolo, Brovia farms sites producing Dolcetto and Barbera, with the Vignavillej vineyard dedicated to Dolcetto and the Sori del Drago site used for Barbera. Specific farming certification is not widely documented, though the estate is generally described as working with care in the vineyard and in line with sustainable practices.

### Winemaking Brovia's cellar work is resolutely traditional. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts, and maceration times are long, consistent with the classical Barolo approach that prioritizes extraction of tannin and color over early approachability. Aging is carried out in large Slavonian oak botti rather than small barriques, which preserves the aromatic integrity of Nebbiolo and avoids the vanilla and toast notes associated with new French oak. The wines spend extended periods in cask followed by additional bottle aging before release. The Barolo bottlings are vineyard-designated and kept separate throughout the process, allowing each cru's character to remain distinct. The Dolcetto from Vignavillej and the Barbera from Sori del Drago are made with less intervention and intended for earlier drinking, serving as entry points to the estate's range and showcasing Brovia's reliability across varieties beyond Nebbiolo.
