Benanti Rosato Etna 2021
Bright, translucent red in the glass, Nerello Mascalese rosato at its most Etna. The nose is genuinely captivating: crushed volcanic rock, sour cherry, and dried rose petal with that dusty, high-altitude lift the appellation does so well. On the palate it's more textural and substantive than the color suggests, with medium body and a pleasing tension between ripe strawberry and sharp citrus that keeps things lively. The finish, though, is where it stumbles, clean and dry, yes, but shorter than the mid-palate promises, fading before it fully delivers on the nose's potential.
