White grapefruit, wet stone and dried herbs lead the nose with an almost austere precision, this is Westhofener Kirschspiel at its most uncompromising. There's real weight underneath the taut, mineral-driven surface, but nothing here is giving itself away easily. The finish stays firm and focused, refusing to soften. Stark and tightly-knit, it needs 5–7 years to find its full stride.
