Benanti Etna Rosso Rovittello Particella No. 341 Riserva 2015
Etna Rosso from a small parcel of pre-phylloxera vines on the northern slope, vinified with extended maceration and 24 months in 15-hectoliter French oak casks. Restrained and inward-looking, dried cherry, dusty rose, volcanic mineral and a trace of savory undergrowth. The body is silky but tightly-knit, with salty, iron-flecked minerality driving the mid-palate while firm, grippy tannins gather at the finish. Currant and violet linger faintly as the wine closes dry and structured. There is real depth compressed here, and patience is rewarded. Drink 2026–2040.
