Wittmann Westhofener Brunnenhäuschen Riesling Grosses Gewächs 2014
Bittersweet florals surge from the glass with real intensity, striking, almost confrontational. On the palate, phenolic grip takes center stage: lemon and kumquat zest, crunched seeds with a nutty ripeness that keeps the bitterness from turning harsh. With air, a note of white peach softens the edges and lends just enough juiciness to balance this wine's compact, unyielding frame. The finish is long and cheek-clenching, formidable rather than charming. Production remains small (around 1,300 bottles), though Wittmann's holdings in Brunnenhäuschen have grown to 1.5 hectares, suggesting larger volumes in future vintages.
