Good concentration and mid-palate depth, but the tannins tell the story here. Coarse and unforgiving despite the wine's respectable fruit core. Tobacco, worn leather and dried cherry emerge on the finish, yet the structural elements never quite mesh. The best of Antoniolo's single vineyards this vintage, though that's faint praise. May improve with time, but fundamental integration seems unlikely. Drink 2018-2028.

→Antoniolo is one of Gattinara's benchmark estates, producing age-worthy Nebbiolo from the appellation's volcanic soils across three distinct single-vineyard Riservas that define what northern Piedmont can achieve.
