Black cherry, dried mint, violet and warm spice open things up, with a faint trace of vanilla from well-absorbed oak. The wine sits in a translucent, medium-weight register, classic Gattinara in character, and it genuinely improves with time in the glass, the fruit filling out and the whole thing growing more expressive and cohesive as it opens. An appealing, generous expression of Le Castelle.
