Toasty describes aromas reminiscent of browned bread or toast. Sources include oak barrel toasting, lees aging (autolysis), and extended bottle age in Champagne. Toasty character can also evoke hazelnut, brioche, or caramel. It's commonly found in oaked Chardonnay and aged sparkling wines.
