Tastevin
/taht-VAN/
Traditional shallow silver wine tasting cup.
Full Definition
A tastevin is a small, shallow silver cup traditionally used for tasting wine in Burgundy's dark cellars. The dimpled surface and shiny metal helped evaluate color and clarity in low light. Now largely ceremonial; the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin is Burgundy's famous wine brotherhood.
