Spanish/Portuguese designation for wines with extended aging.
Full Definition
Reserva is a legally defined term in Spain and Portugal indicating extended aging. Spanish red Reserva requires 3 years total aging with at least 1 year in oak. Gran Reserva requires 5 years. Portugal uses similar requirements. In other countries, 'Reserve' has no legal meaning.
