A named vineyard site, particularly in France.
Full Definition
Lieu-dit ('named place') is a French cadastral term for a specific named location, often appearing on wine labels to indicate grape source. Unlike climat (Burgundy) or cru, lieu-dit doesn't necessarily imply quality classification - it simply identifies the site. Common in Loire Valley and Alsace labeling.
