Darker and more concentrated than the 5 Anni, this is where De Bartoli's Marsala finds its footing. Dried figs, stewed prunes, warm spice and a thread of dried citrus peel, rich and layered, yet the fruit hasn't surrendered its vitality the way it does in the 20 Anni. Texture is plush without being heavy, and the delineation across the palate is striking for an oxidative wine of this density. A 50/50 blend of Grillo and Inzolia aged Solera-style in cask, it occupies the sweet spot of the range, more depth and complexity than the 5 Anni, but fresher and more alive than its older sibling.

Marco de Bartoli

Marco de Bartoli rescued Marsala from irrelevance, producing benchmark Vecchio Samperi alongside some of Sicily's most precise dry whites from Grillo and Zibibbo.
