Jacques Selosse Avize Les Chantereines Extra Brut - 2008 Base NV

Crushed chalk, tart green apple, and exotic spice jump from the glass with striking intensity. The 2008 base lends serious concentration to this single-vineyard Avize Chardonnay, but the wine remains coiled and angular, vertical in its drive, with raw energy that hasn't yet found its center. There's real depth here, buried under tension that still needs time to unfurl. Revisit in four to six years.
