Emmerich Knoll Grüner Veltliner Schütt Smaragd 2024

Knoll's Schütt comes from weathered gneiss on one of the Wachau's most wind-exposed slopes, and the 2024 shows it, there's a flinty, slightly reductive edge on the nose that slowly gives way to ripe, savory fruit. What strikes you on the mouth is the texture: pithy and substantial without any heaviness, with a yeasty, umami-driven depth that gives the wine real character. Ripe stone fruit and white pepper carry through a focused, mineral finish. Elegant and composed, this is Grüner at a serious level.
