Weinbach Pinot Gris Les Caracoles 2023

From the clay-limestone Schneckeltor lieu-dit, just below the Altenbourg, this is a tightly coiled, bone-dry Pinot Gris that barely hints at what's underneath, a whisper of smoked pear, a sliver of cream, then nothing more. The palate is where it earns its keep: lean, incisive, and bracingly fresh, with that characteristic Pinot Gris sinew stripped of any excess weight. Austere and unyielding right now, but the architecture is there. Give it time.
