Mullineux Syrah 2023

A cross-section of Swartland's four main soil types, quartz-dominant, aged 11 months in 500-litre used French oak with a further ten months post-blending. The nose opens with an appealing reductive quality, behind which lies red berry fruit threaded with white pepper and a touch of fennel. Medium-bodied with grainy, well-knit tannins and genuine depth, it turns more linear through the back palate, finishing just a shade drier than the previous vintage. A solid, characterful Syrah with several good years ahead of it.
