Sourced from vines planted between 1908 and the 1940s, this is old-vine Blaufränkisch at a deeply serious level. A veil of woodsmoke hangs over the nose at first, gradually giving way to dense blue fruit, crushed blueberry, dried violet, something almost inky in its concentration. On the palate, the tannins are fine-grained and fully ripe, and the acidity cuts through with precision, lending each layer of fruit and fragrance a sharp, detailed outline. There is real depth here, and a floral, perfumed quality that runs through the whole wine. It's complete in structure yet still holding back, the full story will take time to tell. Drink 2026–2040.
