From parcels adjacent to the Neumagener Rosengärtchen terraces, this is only the second release from the site and the third vintage of Steinmetz's high-density replanting, nearly 9,000 vines per hectare on single stakes using the Schlangengraben massal selection. The nose leads with ripe mirabelle and apricot, stone fruit rendered with real clarity and purpose. On the palate, that fruit carries through with surprising plushness, smooth and almost round, with an inner richness that feels generous for the site. Vivid lemon cuts through and keeps everything from tipping too soft, and the finish pulls the wine back toward slate and stone, fruit and mineral resolving together with real grace.
