Sourced from deep, weathered gneiss shaped by theMental graben gully and cooled by natural air drainage, the 2023 Schütt Smaragd opens with a savory, fern-and-foliage nose, green and composed, with a trace of citrus threading through. The body is stony and medium-taut, built around a distinct wet-pebble minerality that gives it real character and quiet authority. There's a yeasty, bread-crust softness underneath that adds depth without weight. Bone-dry and straight-lined, this is a wine that keeps its cards close right now, it needs a few years in the cellar to fully open up. Drink 2027–2038.
