Bernhard Ott Grüner Veltliner Kirchthal 2023
From a steep loess bank with a clay subsoil on the Kirchthal site, vines planted in 2008, reaching up to 370 meters, this is Wagram Grüner made with real intention. Basket-pressed after skin contact, spontaneously fermented without settling, then aged up to two years in large-format barrels. The nose opens with something almost floral, like dandelion blossom, before shifting into a quiet, herbal savoriness. On the palate, it's slender yet surprisingly rich, crushed chervil, yarrow, white pepper, and a soft creaminess woven through. Compact and fluid at once, with a near mouth-coating texture that somehow never sacrifices freshness. A genuinely impressive Grüner.
