Bernhard Ott Cuve Spectrum 2023
A field blend with serious backstory: Traminer, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Roter Veltliner, Muskateller, Neuburger, Welschriesling and Sauvignon Blanc, planted by Ott on white gravels at Hengstberg across Engabrunn and Feuersbrunn, sites where Grüner Veltliner struggled, now repurposed as a climate-resilience experiment. Harvested in three passes, two-thirds whole-bunch pressed and kick-started with already-fermenting juice, the rest destemmed; pressed after four days, finished in a single large barrel, bottled unfiltered. The nose is juicy and inviting without being showy, tart orchard fruit, a squeeze of citrus, quietly fragrant. On the palate it's light-bodied and silky, with bright, mouth-watering freshness that carries through to a clean, lip-smacking close. Bone-dry and effortlessly drinkable.
