Wittmann Riesling Vom Kalkstein trocken 2022
Drawn from younger vines across Brunnenhäuschen, Höllenbrand, and Steingrube, this sits between Wittmann's village blends and his single-vineyard bottlings, a touch riper and more voluminous than you might expect. Tangerine leads on the nose, but earthy, savory undercurrents quickly assert themselves: peppery moss, wet stone, a faint nuttiness. On the palate, the phenolic structure does much of the work, framing a wine that's more about texture and depth than outward fruit. Compact and firmly built, it drives through the finish with quiet authority, linear, measured, and bone-dry, with a mild but satisfying grip.
Wittmann
→One of Rheinhessen's benchmark estates, Wittmann works the limestone and loess slopes around Westhofen to produce dry Rieslings of real precision and age-worthiness, with a strong lineup of Grosse Gewächse from some of the region's most compelling sites.
