From 80-85-year-old vines on Gfähler gneiss in the Achleiten, among the most demanding parcels in the Wachau. The nose is strikingly citrus-driven, almost uncanny in its precision, more Riesling in character than you'd expect from Grüner. Lean, linear and tightly-knit on the palate, with a shape and intensity that keeps the grape variety guessing, until the white pepper asserts itself and settles the argument. Savory, juicy and bone-dry, with a focused mineral backbone that carries everything cleanly through the finish.
